Michael's Story
Life
Life has been interesting for the McColgan family since being transferred to the beautiful San Francisco Bay area in 1984 with the Gm Pontiac Sales Division. In 1995, after deciding not to move back to Detroit, I retired after 20 years with GM and pursued a career in the golf industry. It has been fun and interesting. I invented an ultrasonic Macsonic Grip And Club Cleaner that we sold all over the US and set up many locations in N. California. In 2000, we sold the company to a large company. Since then I have become an Editor of Golf Today Magazine. Golf Today is the largest regional golf magazine in the country reaching 400,000 golfers in 5 Western States on a monthly basis. I am also the proud father,coach and partner of my son MJ Mc Colgan who is number one in the world for Special Olympics Golf. He is also a Global Ambassador speaking to businesses about winning and overcoming adversity. Last year he helped the N. California Police raise 1 million dollars for Special Olympics N. California. he has a walking disability and uses a golf cart to play. He has won 1 world, 3 National and 7 straight N. California State Championships. He was also inducted into the 2004 San Francisco Sports Hall Of Fame and 2006 Michigan Sports Hall Of Fame having been born there. We compete in the Ryder Cup Alternate Shot format and just returned from China for the 2007 Summer World Games. 169 countries and 3 million specatators participated in this event. The 2003 Games were in Ireland and the 2011 Games will be in Athens, Greece. We have also written 5 successful Golf Books together. In 2006, we were invited to the Masters and wrote our 4th book "Walking 18 Holes With Tiger." Our latest "The Cardinal Sins Of Golf" was introduced at the 2007 US Open. All of the books are available on amazon.com.. My wife Linda is also involved in the auto industry as a top executive with GM-Toyots Venture-Nummi in Fremont California. Finally, the San Francisco Bay is a "rich" place to live with a great climate,wine and year around golf. It is also the locaton of God's Home Of Golf--Pebble Beach.
